Trans (1982):
A short film exploring the lives of trans sex workers, women who called themselves transformistas, in 1980s Venezuela. By Manuel Herreros de Lemos and Mateo Manaure Arilla1, to American eyes, this film may feel most similar to Jennie Livingston’s Paris is Burning (1990). Don’t miss this show at The Institute for Studies on Latin American Art through April 5.
Also in Tribeca (and available for review):
Luis Fernando Benedict: Invisible Labyrinths also at The Institute for Studies on Latin American Art.
Katie Paterson: There is Another Sky at James Cohan.
Nick Cave: Amalgams and Graphs at Jack Shainman.
