Émilie Charmy, Autoportrait à la cigarette (Self-portrait with cigarette), 1916-1919. Make Way for Berthe Weil at Grey Art Museum.
About:
One of two ongoing shows highlighting women of this period1, Make Way for Berthe Weil highlights the career of the “first woman modern art dealer”. Despite never achieving financial or business success, she launched many artists who would later become household names, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Amedeo Modigliani. You have time to see this one—closes March 1st.
The other being Lillie P. Bliss and the Birth of the Modern
I did not know that NYU has its own art museum. Thank you for sharing information about this exhibit! I'm going to check it out this Saturday.
