what weâre reading
Knowing that a Schiele talk was in the works, we stopped by Neue Galerie last week to see where the Austrian artist was currently on view. We were also pleased to discover that Neue has one of the more charming used book selections in the gift shop, and Sarah picked up a copy of Alessandra Cominiâs Egon Schiele, originally published in 1976. The opening essay takes about an afternoon of doing absolutely nothing else to get through and is a useful introduction to the inflection points of his too short life (he died at 28 years old).
Sarah published a review this week on the Jasper Johns exhibit at Gagosian, but this is one of those moments where we want to flag how much good writing has already been done by other outlets in the city. We particularly liked J. Scott Orr in White Hot Magazine, Jason Farago for the The New York Times, and Sean Tatol at The Manhattan Review, which we cited pretty heavily.
